What is the Sacrament of Marriage?
The Sacrament of Marriage is a covenant or partnership of life and commitment between a man and woman, which is ordered to the unity and love of the spouses and to the procreation and upbringing of children. When validly celebrated between two baptized people, marriage is a sacrament.
Archdiocesan policy dictates that marriage formation must begin at least six months prior to the scheduled wedding. This will require the couple to contact the parish office (952-492-2640) 9-12 months prior to a desired wedding date. Preparation includes meetings with a priest or deacon, a FOCCUS inventory with an assigned mentor couple, and attending a 6-week Pre-Marriage Formation Program.
Wedding Evening Program
Our “Intro to Parish Life” evening program is required for any couple who wants to get married at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. The class is offered once a month. Check our website calendar for class times. Please call the Parish Office (8:00am-4:30pm Monday-Thursday) to register for class. Once the class is complete we can solidify the final date for the Sacrament of Marriage.
