ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a unique method of faith formation that we are excited to offer for 3-6 year olds, Kindergarteners and First Graders on a weekly basis.

This method strives to proclaim the message of Jesus to children by presenting the mysteries of our faith in a Montessori learning environment which incorporates beauty and silence in a prepared setting called the Atrium.

WHAT WE OFFER

We Offer Level I for 3-6 Year Olds: 
Children are attracted to the Good Shepherd’s abiding love for His sheep. They develop a special love for Jesus, the Good Shepherd, even before they realize that they are the sheep. The children hear the Bible story in the words of the Catechist, using actual scripture verses, and discuss and reflect on what they heard. Materials that accompany the teachings are available for the children to re-enact the story.

We Offer Level II for Kindergarteners and First Graders 

This level builds on the Level 1 materials, and it gives a child a deeper understanding of God’s Kingdom and the love between God and His children. The merciful, forgiving love of Jesus is come to be known through the parables of Jesus, and children discover how that love calls for a response. Older children receive meditations to enhance their preparation for their eventual reception of the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist.

Classes begin on September 6th.

Preschool classes are held: TBD.

Kindergarten/1st Grade class is held weekly Wednesdays at 6:30-7:45pm.
