2nd to 5th GRADE FAITH FORMATION
A Note from Father Neil
Praise be Jesus Christ, now and forever! I am so excited for another year of Faith Formation to begin at Saint John the Baptist! A year for us to continue to devote ourselves to the teaching of the Apostles, to fellowship with one another, to deeper and more enriching prayer, and to the Breaking of the Bread in the Eucharist, a cornerstone of our program! This year we have some exciting developments to our program that we know will continue to refine and enhance our program.
The first and most important thing you do as a family is to get to Mass each and every Sunday and all the Holy Days of Obligation. This is the bedrock of our faith, the Source of our relationship with God, and the Summit for which we all strive to attain Spiritual Joys. Attend Mass as a family.
On the First Wednesday of the month we will continue to have our Mary’s Dinner which will be joined with our Saint Joseph’s Workshop (both beloved parts of our program). On the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and sometimes 5th Wednesday of the month we will have classroom time where students are on campus learning the faith.
The final, yet equally important, element of our program is the daily practice of prayer at home. Whether it's at the dinner table, before bed, in the morning, in the car, during difficult times, or in moments of joy, prayer is the thread that binds us to God. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18a reminds us, “Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all circumstances.”
These most recent advances in our program were made in response to important feedback from catechists, parents, and children. This new calendar will help us align K-6 with our 7-10 program.
Faith Formation is always very close to my heart and present in my prayers. May God continue to Grace us with His Peace and guide us with Wisdom and Understanding as we strive to lead more souls to His Most Sacred Heart.
