Harold Mark was born on April 25, 1935, at the birthing house in Le Sueur County to the proud parents of Lawrence and Emily (Bastyr) Beckman. Growing up in Jordan, he went to St John’s Catholic School for 8 years and graduated from Jordan High School in 1952.
Harold met the love of his life, Anne Louise Dufek during his junior year. Dating for two years, they were married on September 4, 1954, at St John the Baptist Catholic Church, in Jordan. They were blessed with seven beautiful children, Mary Jo, Nancy, Mark, Jeanne, Kenneth, Jon, and Michael.
Harold worked on a mink ranch for 5 years and then entered the construction trade as a laborer and labor foreman. He worked for Krause Anderson of Minneapolis for 30 years and retired in 1995.
Harold and Anne purchased a home on the northside of Lake Mille Lacs in 1991. They enjoyed living on the lake for 23 years, doing what he loved the most “catching walleys!” The lake home was the center point of wonderful family gatherings and creating many lifelong friends.
In Harold’s spare time, he enjoyed working at the food shelf in Garrison, playing a lot of cards, especially Cribbage and dominos. Harold’s favorite time of the year at the lake was Christmas doing the Christmas jingle and having family up to visit and fish. He also enjoyed hunting, golfing, and fishing trips to Canada, Alaska, Mexico, and Lake Michigan. Harold and Anne moved back to the Metro area in 2015, to Savage. He was a charter member (1953) of the Third-Degree Knights of Columbus and Catholic Aid Members.
