He attended Saint Wenceslaus Catholic School in New Prague and went on to graduate from New Prague High School. From a young age working hard was a part of his life. He had a paper route and cut grass for people. He also was an Altar Boy and served Mass for most daily Masses. For entertainment his friends and he would go to the movie theater in New Prague on Saturday afternoons. During the summer they would go fishing and, in the winter, they would go sledding. They were married on May 18, 1946 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Jordan. A few years after they were married, they moved to Minneapolis, and he got a job at the Federal Reserve Bank. They had one daughter, Bridget. The family went on many car trips. Once there were grandchildren, he would take many of them to different places also. He enjoyed spending time with his 10 grandchildren and was proud to know all 23 of his great grandchildren. He loved to tell stories.
