Gracing this world on October 7, 1936, Mary Ann was the last of four children born to Nicholas and Clara (Ruppert) Lambrecht. Born and raised on the farm, located in river bottoms of St. Lawrence Township, she and siblings, Harold, Ruth, and Dorothy worked countless hours tending to the daily chores. Mary Ann attended St. John the Baptist Catholic School through the Eighth Grade, before returning to the duties on the family farm. She also helped other area farmers as a nanny, assisting with raising the children and performing other household duties.
Mary Ann married Cletus Bauer on November 14, 1953, at St. John the Baptist Church. The newlyweds worked side by side on a farm south of Jordan. Here, Mary Ann and Cletus were blessed with six children, Connie, Kevin, Donald, Duane, Glen, and Dale. The family worked hard together, especially while Cletus worked nights to provide a better life for them. Mary Ann passed on to her children the same values to succeed in life as she grew up…faith, family, and hard work.
Mary Ann was always active. She spent countless hours in the vegetable garden and then canning the fruits of her labor for the family to enjoy. Mary Ann was known for producing amazing pickles. She also was an excellent cook and made hundreds of wedding cakes for happy couples.
Life for Mary Ann and her children changed after the passing of their husband and dad from cancer on his 54th birthday, March 12, 1981. As a family, they remained strong and persevered. Mary Ann worked outside the home at West End Lanes for many years. She enjoyed giving back to her community volunteering at the New Prague American Legion and when the blood bank came to town. Mary Ann would provide the bologna sandwiches and pickles for the attendees. Time also allowed her to be active at church, especially working the funeral luncheons. In later years, Mary Ann was fortunate to travel the United States on bus tours with friends. We must not forget her love for playing cards. Life was enriched when Mary Ann became a grandma and great grandma. She loved being involved in their lives attending their sporting events and school activities.
Forever missed, Mary Ann will be forever loved by children, Connie Jabs, Kevin (Chriss Glisczinsk) Bauer, Donald Bauer, Duane Bauer, Glen (Linda) Bauer, Dale (Shelly) Bauer; grandchildren, Paul (Michele) Jabs, Nathan (Sarah) Jabs, Jacob Bauer, Jennifer (Nick) Gerdes, Julia Bauer, Spencer (Emma) Bauer, Sawyer Bauer; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Jelen; sister-in-law, Maddie Lambrecht; countless nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
