Kathleen “Kathy” Kersting, age 90, of Jordan, MN, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, January 22, 2021, at Oak Terrace Senior Living, in Jordan. 

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 29, at 11 am, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 313 E. Second Street, Jordan. Guests can arrive after 10:30 am and will be immediately seated. Friends and family can view the service by visiting sjbjordan.org and clicking on the live stream tab. Father Neil Bakker will preside. Kathy’s sons, Mike, Mark, Gary and Kevin and grandsons, Zachary and Jacob will act as pallbearers, with honorary pallbearer, son, Steve. She will be laid to rest at St. John Calvary Cemetery, Jordan. 

In Preston Village in Fillmore County, MN, Kathleen Doris was born on March 23, 1930 to proud parents Arnold and Maybelle (Ward) Friemann. The oldest of four children, she was raised in St. Paul, MN, with siblings, Sally, Rita, and Tom. 

Kathy’s life was blessed with meeting Cliff Kersting, at a ballroom in St. Paul, MN. Their love story began and on September 30, 1950, Kathy and Cliff were united in Holy Matrimony at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, in St. Paul. They settled down in Jordan, taking over the Kersting family farm. It was here, Kathy and Cliff welcomed their first seven children, Karen, Mike, Steve, Linda, Mark, Gary, and Julie. They continued farming for several years until Cliff hurt his back. Kathy and Cliff sold the farm and started a new chapter in town. 

On April 1, 1962, Kathy and Cliff established Kersting’s Bar in Jordan, with the slogan “Meet Your Friends Here!” While living in the town of Jordan, they welcomed two more children, Kevin, and Kathy. For the next 27 years, Cliff tended bar, while Kathy maintained the books for the business. Kathy could be found serving drinks, playing cards with the patrons, and listening to their stories, when Cliff needed a nap or a break. As the kids grew up, they too helped with daily tasks at the bar. 

Kathy’s passion for traveling truly started in 1969, when she and other family members were able to travel to New York. After Kathy and Cliff retired on August 31, 1989, they were able to expand their travels in the motorhome, with exploring the United States, Alaska and Canada. Kathy and Cliff also traveled abroad to Europe, Ireland and Germany. For over 20 years, they spent winters in Texas. 

Kathy’s days were filled with the many activities of raising nine children and working side by side with Cliff. Besides family and work, Kathy did find time to play. She participated in bowling leagues, enjoyed cards, board games, bingo and being the caller at the Schule Haus. She and Cliff spent countless hours playing the card game Big Bertha. 

The Kersting family would like to thank the staff at Allina Hospice and Oak Terrace for their support, kindness and care Kathy received.  

A devout Catholic, Kathy was a caring, loving, and supportive wife, mother, grandma and great grandma. She will be forever loved and missed by children, Karen (Roy) Williams, Mike (Marleen) Kersting, Steve (Sue) Kersting, Linda (Terry) Beuch, Mark Kersting, Gary (Marti) Kersting, Julie (Ron) Nichols, Kevin (Adriana) Kersting, Kathy (Mark) Ewing; many, many grandchildren; many great grandchildren; siblings, Sally Nunn, Rita Brezniak, Tom (Betty) Friemann; other relatives and friends.

Kathleen proceeded in death by husband of 69 years, Cliff; grandsons, Ross Williams and Jason Beuch.

Wilma Lambrecht, age 82, of Jordan, MN, entered eternal peace on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at St. Gertrude’s Health Care Center, in Shakopee, MN.

A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 8, at 11 am, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 313 Second Street East, Jordan. Masks are required and guests may arrive after 10:30 am and immediately seated in the church. Guests may also join via live streaming, by visiting sjbjordan.org and clicking on the live stream tab. Father Neil Bakker will preside and grandchildren will be acting as urn bearers. Wilma will be laid to rest at St. John Calvary Cemetery.

Wilma was born in Bark, Germany on July 24, 1938. Growing up in Germany during WWII and its aftermath, she experienced many challenges. It was these challenges, unbeknown to Wilma were instilled in her, the values of caring for others, unconditional love, and hard work. Wilma was the only child to Georg and Irma (Luthje) Urbanczyk.

Wilma’s life was blessed with meeting an American soldier, Lloyd Lambrecht, who was serving his country during the Korean War. She was working at a restaurant nearby the base when Wilma was introduced to Lloyd. Over the next several years their love story was deepened. Lloyd’s father sponsored Wilma allowing her to come to the states, so she and Lloyd could begin a new life together. On September 26, 1959, they were united in marriage, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, in Jordan. They eventually settled down in Jordan where Wilma and Lloyd raised two children, Christine, and Paul.

When Wilma came to the United States, she needed to learn the English language. With the help of many family and co-workers, Wilma succeeded! Wilma loved sharing her German heritage and music with family and friends. Through the years, Wilma was especially proud and excited to return to Germany to visit her parents and to show Lloyd, friends and even a few grandchildren, the original homestead and taking them to the local attractions. Germany will always hold a special place in her heart, but on February 11, 1981 Wilma became a United States Citizen. She was so proud of this accomplishment.

Wilma always had a gentle and caring heart. She spent most of her career as a housekeeper and tending to the needs of the less fortunate. The residents of Lynnville Treatment Center, Valley View Nursing Home and St. Gertrude’s Health and Rehabilitation Center were blessed to have Wilma on their side. She also extended her waitressing abilities to the local supper club.

Being surrounded by family was most important in Wilma’s life. She relished the days, as the children grew up, vacationing in Northern Minnesota fishing, golfing, and making memories. In the later years, Wilma loved going to the cabins Chris and Paul have in Waubay, SD. She looked forward to the next family birthday party, special event, or holiday. Wilma was an active grandma. She loved to attend the grandchildren’s school and sporting events. Life was once again blessed for Wilma becoming a great grandma. Their smiles and laughter brought her joy!

After the passing of Lloyd in 1995, Wilma kept pressing on in life. She loved getting together and socializing with friends, especially her Saturday night church friends. Wilma never had a driver’s license and depended on others to take her places. In return, Wilma was always certain to treat them with a good meal, flowers, or a special gift. She also became an avid sports fan. Wilma loved cheering on the Minnesota Timberwolves, Vikings and even the college teams. In her spare time, Wilma enjoyed word find books, listening to German music and the group ABBA.

Forever loved, Wilma will be sadly missed by children, Christine (David) Holzer, Paul (Tammy) Lambrecht; grandchildren, Nicole (Bryan) Erkkila, Amanda (Karl) Bitschenauer, Tayla Lambrecht, Crista Lambrecht: great grandchildren, Parker Erkkila, Morgan Erkkila, Lilli Bitschenauer, Evalyn Bitschenauer, Everett Bitschenauer, Luca Bitchenauer and Greta Bitschenauer.

Wilima is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Lambrecht and parents, Georg and Irma Urbanczyk.

Gerald “Jerry” Pauly, age 76, of Jordan, MN, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at the Belle Plaine Lutheran Home.

Gerald Albert was born on September 5, 1944, in Shieldsville, MN, to Quentin and Luella (Theis) Pauly. He was the second of six children, growing up on the family dairy farm that his great grandpa Jacob Pauly homesteaded, in the St. Joseph area. Jerry attended St. Joe’s country grade school and furthered his education at Jordan High School. When the farm work was done, he enjoyed fishing at this grandfather’s cabin on Fish Lake, in rural Prior Lake, MN.

At the age of 20, Jerry’s father passed and for the next few years, he remained committed in helping the family tending to the daily farm tasks. Jerry later worked at Crystal Sugar, in Chaska, MN, at the Belle Plaine Sales Barn, and part time for 12 ½ years at the Cologne Pavilion catering weddings and banquets, along with his bride at his side. Most of his career was at Thermal King, in Bloomington, MN. After 21 years with working the assembly line, he retired!

Life was enriched for Jerry meeting Ramona Ruschke (Soeffker), through mutual friends. They started courting and on June 2, 1973, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Jerry and Ramona wedded. His family immediately included Ramona’s children, Kim, Kelli, Karri and Kent. A year after being married, Jerry and Ramona were blessed with a son, Jayson. Family always was the center of Jerry’s life. When he was not working and providing for his family, they enjoyed the annual family vacation to Crosby, MN, celebrating the Fourth of July. Jerry also was involved in Jayson’s racing events, in the Hobby Stock Racing at Arlington Raceway Park and watching the demolition derbies at the Scott County Fair.

As a couple, Jerry and Ramona were fortunate to have created many friendships through Thermal King. This venture allowed them to enjoy each other company on excursions around Minnesota and even to Las Vegas. In Jerry’s free time, he enjoyed trying his luck at the slot machines and having great conversations with his buddy’s at Clancy’s Bar and Grill, where they would all catch up on the latest news. He was proud of his wife and children, but it was his grandchildren that brought him so much joy. Jerry was interested in what they were doing and tried to remain active in their lives.

The last several years, Jerry’s health has declined. But through all of life’s trials and tribulation, he worked and played hard. Jerry loved his family unconditionally and enjoyed nurturing and caring for them all.

Forever loved, Jerry will be sadly missed by wife of 47 years, Ramona; children, Jayson (Cyndi) Pauly, Kim Soeffker(Franc Garcia), Kelli Williams, Karri (Roman) Symanitz, Kent (Mary Beth) Soeffker; grandchildren, Randy Symanitz, Ben (Jenna) Symantiz, Joe Symantiz, Aaron Williams, Mariah Williams, Emily Soeffker, Allison Soeffker, Donavon Soeffker, Patrick Garcia; siblings, Sally Pauly,Richard (Sharon) Pauly, Sandy (Nathan) Wittenberg; other relatives and friends.

Jerry is preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Symanitz; parents Quentin and Luella; brothers, Roger Pauly, and Donald Pauly.

Viola Hennes, a lifelong resident of Jordan, passed away peacefully in her home on November 29, 2020 at the age of 82. A Private Family Mass will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 11:00 AM. Friends and extended family are invited to stream the service at the following link: Viola Hennes Funeral Service. Vi will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Jordan.

On December 28, 1937, Viola Margaret Gregory was born to Peter & Theresa (Budde) Gregory. She was the oldest of nine kids and loved growing up on the family farm in Jordan. After graduating from Jordan High School, Vi married Bill Hennes. They exchanged wedding vows at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on June 5, 1956, and their marriage was blessed with 54 years together and seven wonderful children.

Throughout her life, Vi enjoyed being involved with the local Threshers Association and volunteering with the Jordan Historical Society. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma. She taught her family the importance of a devout faith and a strong work ethic.

Viola is survived by her children, Mary Hennes, Ellen (Curt) Hoffman, Dave (Jan) Hennes, Sandy (Kevin) Kalisch, Linda (Joel) Webster, Janet Jacobs (Dale), John (Kasie) Hennes; 26 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings, Pet Schmitt, Helen Lenzmeier, Bernice (Joe) O’Brien, Carol Mourer, Sally (Bernie) Rosckes, Ben (Mary Jo) Gregory, Marilyn Pint, Ruth (Marlin) Pint; other loving relatives and many dear friends.

Vi was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill Hennes.

Jeron Pint, age 76 of Jordan, entered eternal life on Saturday, November 28, 2020. A private Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Jordan, on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 11AM. Father Neil Bakker will preside and Jeron’s wife, Marilyn, will act as his urnbearer.

Friends can live stream the service by visiting the church’s website and clicking on the live streaming tab.(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=516v3E9ueuc)  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be distributed by Jeron’s family in his memory.

On June 16, 1944, Jeron Andrew Pint, was born on the family farm near St. Benedict’s to parents, Joseph and Alma (Steinhoff) Pint. He was the third of eight children. From a young age, Jeron knew the importance of family. Always active, he could be found outdoors with his brothers or playing baseball with the St. Benedict Saints. Later, Jeron took on the role of scorekeeper at baseball games. His youth was filled with good memories—spending time with family, hunting, fishing, and working hard on the family farm.

Along with his siblings, Jeron attended country school at St. Benedict’s and later attended New Prague High School. After his graduation, Jeron joined the Army National Guard and began a 40-year career with MVE (Minnesota Valley Engineering) later known as Chart Industries. Before officially retiring, he also worked at Jordan Transformer. No matter where he worked, Jeron made friends. Working was never difficult for him because he had good people beside him.

In his free time, Jeron enjoyed dancing. It was at the New Prague Ballroom that he met Marilyn Gregory of Jordan. The two simply knew they were meant to be together. On October 26, 1968 Jeron and Marilyn were united in marriage at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jordan. Despite it being pheasant season, they still managed to get the entire family to attend!

Jeron and Marilyn were blessed with 52 years together. Their years were filled with laughter, love, and countless games of Sheepshead with family. They often joked that Jeron teaching Marilyn cards was part of their marriage ceremony. Jeron loved his family deeply and shared his pastimes with them. For 52 years, Jeron and Marilyn were joined during their summer vacation by their siblings, nieces, and nephews at Lake Edward near Brainerd.

In recent years as his health declined, Jeron felt privileged to have his family by his side, especially his nieces and nephews. In his last days, Jeron often asked Marilyn, “where are my other children today?” He lovingly referred to his brother Marlin’s children Deb, Julie, Amanda, Andrew and Joe as his own. Jeron was an amazing uncle. He had a special relationship with all his nieces and nephews. They knew they were loved even when he joked the best part was being able to send them home after a day together.

Throughout life, Jeron was a kind and good-humored man. He was always willing to help others and appreciated when they did the same. Jeron is forever loved and missed by his wife, Marilyn; siblings, David (Joan) Pint, Earl (Judy) Pint, Lois (Jim) Giesen, Marlin (Ruth) Pint, Lori Moylan, Adele Pint; brother-in-law, Ken Palma; many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jeron is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jayne Palma; nephew, Chuckie Giesen.

Kathleen (Kay) Hartmann, age 81, of Jordan, MN, died peacefully in the presence of her family on November 19, 2020. Her influence as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sibling and friend will be cherished. Nothing lit up Kay’s life more than when her children and grandchildren were around. They truly were her heartbeat and her legacy will live on through them.

Kay was born November 13, 1939, in St. Paul, MN, to Leonard and Evelyn (Ryan) Seifert. She was raised on the family farm with four brothers and three sisters in Helena, Township. At 15, Kay, attended a dance at Mertz Hall, in Jordan, and always maintained she “fell in love at first sight” with Gilbert (Gil) Hartmann. Kay and Gil, both literally and figuratively danced their way through life. It was common for them to dance three days a week in the early years. While Gil was in the Navy, Kay wrote to him every single day. They were married on July 1, 1958, at Saint John the Baptist Church in Jordan, MN. Gil and Kay had five daughters and one son.

Kay’s interests were all nurturing and caring by nature. Those who knew her best saw her as the life of the party who was always good for a practical joke. Kay and Gil loved to entertain friends and family.  She was a professional at hostessing parties. She loved her friends and her friendships were many and long lasting. Those who called Kay “friend” ranged in all ages as she had a young and timeless soul and playful personality. Her most recent friend group was endearingly called “The Beetles” and she was “Mama Beetle”. She would go to the moon and back for them.

Kay was actively engaged in the community. She lived life out-loud. Kay was a Community Theater member in her early years and had a flair for drama. She was an avid singer at her church and amongst her family. Kay belonged to the Be-frienders Group, the Women’s Card Club, the Charter Lioness Club, New Prague Queen of Peace Auxiliary, and the JCCW (Jordan Council of Catholic Women). Kay was a left fielder for the Red Owl softball team and played until she was 40 years old. She was known as “the vacuum” because it was rare she would miss a catch.

Kay had an entrepreneurial spirit. She held an annual garage sale which people attended in droves. At her local church festival, she started the Coffee and Donut booth with her friend, Jan. She also used her creative talent and started a Jewelry Booth at that church festival that continues to this day.

Kay and Gil loved spending hours and hours at French Lake. She had a very green thumb, everything she touched flourished. She loved working outside with her flowers and burning brush at their lake home. Before they purchased the cabin, they spent a few winters in Florida, took vacations to Oregon to see family, and often took cruises with friends. One of her most cherished trips was to Jerusalem.

Kay’s love language was Acts of Service. Her family is most proud of her over 40 years in the medical profession. She worked at Queen of Peace Hospital, Jordan Medical Clinic, and New Prague Medical Clinic where her caring and compassionate nature shined. She gave and gave and gave to her family, friends, and community. She gave back to her church by cleaning the home of many priests. If a friend was sick, Kay was there with a plate of cookies or a hot dish.  Words that come to mind to describe Kay are empathetic, genuine, thoughtful, smart, creative, giving, faithful and fun.

Kay will be greatly missed by her husband, Gil, five daughters, Laurie Hartmann (Kevin) Green, Renee (Robert) Wagner, Patty (Kent) Mollberg, Mary (Jeff) Ouellette, Jodi Budin and special friend Paul. Grandchildren, Tim, Tynan, Johnny, Clayton (Alissa), Christine (Ryan), Katie (Kris) Joe (Kayli), Mariah (Klay), Maddie (Blake), Taylor (Devon), Maddie O., Josh, and Luke.  Four great-grandchildren, Lilly, Cortland, Ione, and Withrow.

She will be greeted with open arms by her only son, Timothy John; brother, Jim Seifert; parents, Leonard and Evelyn; parents in-law, Joseph and Susan Hartmann; and brother in-law, James Hartman. When she enters heaven many more friends and loved ones better be ready to dance!
